What Roof Cleaning Indiana Services Can Do For You
Filed under (Roof Cleaning) by ftd09 @ 10:39 pm

When it comes to black roof streaks, most of the time you will here different opinions as to exactly what it is and what causes it. Even some roofing contractors are not completely sure what the streaks are and will just assume that the roof needs replaced. Black roof streaks on asphalt shingle roofs are caused by an airborne algae and is an ongoing problem. But there is a solution that is recommended by the major shingle manufacturers. It is to clean the shingles using a low pressure chemical application that will kill the algae and remove it from the shingles to restore the roof’s appearance.

Most anything that sits outside and is subjected to the elements will eventually need to be cleaned and your roof is no exception. Roof cleaning in Indiana is not a very well known service but it is offered by a few professional companies around the state. Roof cleaning Indiana companies that practice the safe low pressure cleaning methods understand the importance of roof maintenance. They also know all too well that factually 50% of roofs will be completely replaced prematurely due to the roof’s appearance and not it’s functionality.

Replacing a roof that only needs cleaned happens all too often mainly stemming from a lack of education. As noted, even many roofing companies are not aware that roofs can be cleaned safely or choose not to share that information to a homeowner asking about a replacement. In either case, it is much more costly and completely unnecessary if the roof is still functioning properly and only needs to be cleaned. An Indiana roof cleaning company can help.

Many people are not aware that a roof can be cleaned and that those unsightly black streaks are a fairly normal problem that can be solved with the right cleaning methods. Roof cleaning in Indiana can normally costs a tenth of what a complete roof replacement may cost and can literally save homeowners thousands of dollars over a premature roof replacement. If your roof is suffering from black streaks or if you know of anyone that has a black stained roof, take this information and look into professional roof cleaning services before calling  for a roof replacement.

It Was Either Landscape or Pressure Washing
Filed under (Uncategorized) by ftd09 @ 07:13 pm

We had a budget to spend on our home last year. We wanted to make some much needed home improvements. We knew setting aside a budget and sticking to it would be a wise decision. Most of the upgrades we wanted to make were going to take place outside of the house. We came down to two projects left after we some deciding and figuring out what goals we wanted from our home.

It was between a landscape upgrade or a pressure washing Indiana company cleaning up the house and property. We had never had the house pressure washed before but knew it needed it. Finally we decided to have the house washed along with the roof, wooden deck, and all the cement for a complete property maintenance upgrade. We were extremely excited about the difference it would make.

The pressure washing Indiana contractor was fairly priced but we wanted to get a lot done. After he was finished we could not believe the overall difference that all those services made. Our street appeal went up ten fold. Almost every single Indiana neighbor commented or mentioned something about our pressure washing project while it was being done or after seeing the results, they wanted the same type of service. Our home appearance was so much better than before that it definitely increased the value of our home.

We were more than happy with how everything came out. The deck was fabulous as was the house. The roof was completely restored as it was previously suffering from black streaks known as roof algae. The concrete looked like it had been freshly poured. We have been told that our house is probably worth more now after the pressure washing Indiana services and we could not agree more. Maybe next spring we will get the upgrade landscape project complete but for now we are more than happy with what we had done. We highly recommend a professional power washing Indiana service for a home improvement project.

Pressure Washing Services Can Stop Damaging Effects
Filed under (Pressure Washing) by MidWestPro @ 10:23 pm

Most of the concern when talking about pressure washing services is focused on the increased curb appeal and resale value of the home involved. But another huge benefit to any type of pressure washing service performed on a home or property is that the cleaning will reduce future repairs costs.

It is a fact that mold, algae, mildew, dirt, and grime have a harmful effect on surfaces around your house and property. Vinyl siding, shingle roofs, decks, concrete patios, driveways and many other surfaces have been damaged and had to be replaced prematurely due to neglect. People are surprised to know that most houses have mildew on them if they are more than a few years old and have not been cleaned recently.

Look on the underside of your gutters, do you see black spots? That is mildew and it will also collect on the vinyl siding normally right underneath the overhang where it is mostly shaded. Some home’s have green stains on their siding appearing on the north side of the house. This is commonly referred to as mold but it is actually an airborne algae which also appears as black streaks on shingle roofs. These contaminants thrive in moist humid climates and the only way to stop their damaging effects is with a regular exterior cleaning.

These natural contaminants can also find their way into your home through open windows, roof vents, and vented attic overhangs. They can cause health issues for those suffering from algae. They will also spread on the exterior of the home diminishing the curb appeal and value. But most of all, they cause homeowners thousands of dollars in premature failures and replacements. Their negative effects decrease your building material’s longevity resulting in costly future repairs that could have been avoided.

Finding a Reputable Roof Cleaning St. Louis Company
Filed under (Roof Cleaning) by MidWestPro @ 12:34 pm

Homeowners in the St. Louis area are always challenged to find good companies to perform services on their homes. Many homeowners always call several contractors just to get only a few to call them back, and maybe just a couple to show up for an estimate.

Finding a roof cleaning St. Louis Company is no different. Many homes in St. Louis are beginning to develop algae on their shingles. This alga is usually predominately on the north side of the home. Many times, this takes away from the curb appeal of the home. Homeowners often wonder if their roof needs to be replaced because of those stains. Unfortunately, there are several roofing companies that tell the homeowner yes, and take thousands of dollars out of the pockets of homeowners when for a fraction of the cost, the roof could have been cleaned to get rid of those roof stains.

Roof cleaning is a low pressure cleaning process that safely and gently removes roof stains and take care of the eyesore roof algae creates. A professional roof cleaning St. Louis Company will first treat your roof with a roof cleaning detergent using low pressure, usually about the pressure of a garden hose. Once the roof is treated, the detergent needs about ten to fifteen minutes to kill the algae. A good sign is color. If you notice, the stains on your roof right now are black. Once the algae are killed, it will turn to a brown color.

Once the treatment process is done, a good rinsing is needed to flush the dead algae off of the roof, and make your roof look new again.

Never use a pressure washer on your roof. Pressure washers will damage the granules on your shingles, knocking them off. Then you will need a costly roof replacement. Pressure washers cause too much damage because many think it’s the pressure that cleans. This is not true in roof cleaning. It’s the detergents that clean and do the work to restore your roof to looking like new.

Also, never try roof cleaning yourself. Professional roof cleaning companies have the tools, the ladders, and the proper equipment to safely and effectively clean your roof. Many people get hurt every year trying to clean roofs without the knowledge. For example, with cleaning there are hoses on your roof. One misstep and you could step on a hose, and the hose will roll out from underneath you, causing you to fall.

Many homeowners like to tackle projects they feel like they can do on their own. And many homeowners like to stain their own deck. But most of the time, it can become a real nuisance and very time consuming. Many homeowners we have spoken to in the St. Louis area hate staining spindles. Well, by the time you read this article, we will have made staining spindles a breeze for most homeowners.

The very first thing you need to do is to make sure your deck is prepped and ready for another staining. Make sure everything is clean, the wood is dry, and there is no debris. Hopefully you will have an oil based deck stain on your deck and you are just applying a maintenance coat. The best situation is to have no stain on there at all and to be starting fresh. If you have peeling or flaking deck stain, we highly suggest you call a professional deck staining St. Louis Company to come evaluate your deck.

The first tip to speeding up your process is to go to the local paint store and buy paint sponges. These sponges look to be about 2 inches wide and 4 inches long. Also buy some paint sticks, some paint pads, and paint pad holders. You can buy a brush but we don’t think you will need it. The paint pads should be 9 inches wide.

When staining, always work in four to six foot sections at a time. The first thing is to use the paint sponge and from inside of the deck, lean over and get the backside of the top rail where the spindles meet the top rail. While you are there, pad down about a foot or so on each spindle as well. Next, put your pad on a handle and lean over the top rail and pad the outside surface of each spindle. Usually you can do two at a time. Once that is done, come to the inside of the spindles and repeat with your pad coating the inside of the spindles. Now go back to your sponge and sponge the inner parts of the spindles where they face each other. While you are kneeling down, make sure you get the bottom board on the outside of the deck where the spindles are nailed too, just like when you did the top. Then you can stain the bottom board facing you. Don’t forget to reach under and do the underside that is facing the floor if you have an elevated deck. Stand up and stain the top rail. We can stain a six to eight foot section in about ten to twelve minutes.

The second tip to speeding your process up is to not tape off your vinyl siding. Just have a cloth and a can of mineral spirits with you when you are deck staining. Chances are the cloth by itself will take care of any stain you get on the vinyl. But if you need to, put some mineral spirits on your towel and wipe off the siding. Make sure you take care of the problem right away.

The third tip is to use the nine inch pad to stain the deck floor. Using the holder with the paint stick attached, begin staining your deck going with the grain of the wood. To keep your pad intact, always keep it moist. Don’t try and get every little bit of stain out of the pad before you go back and re-dip your pad into the pan. You will be wasting time, and money because of pad replacements. Buy two pads at the store just in case one comes apart on you during this process.

We are certain you will find these three tips about deck staining helpful. Even though this process takes a little longer than spraying a deck, there are a lot less mess to clean up and very few issues that could arise while you are deck staining.

Finding a Reputable Pressure Washing Company
Filed under (Pressure Washing) by MidWestPro @ 07:21 pm

For homeowners seeking professional pressure washing services, the key is to find the right company. Most people are not going to trust their home to just anybody. With so many fly by night companies out there it can be confusing as to which one to hire. How do you know if they are a reputable company that is going to give you the quality results you expect?

You can do a search online for a pressure washing company. Find a high ranking company with a professional looking website. For example, if you live in St Louis, do a search for pressure washing St Louis and see which companies come up. Be cautions of companies only showing up in the local search results, anyone can get their name to show up there with little effort and with no budget. This is the first place new start up and weekend warrior type companies will show up. If they do not have a website to accompany that local listing then they are either not very established or don’t do well enough to afford a website and you may not want a company like that working on your largest investment.

A professional looking website is a good sign of a well established pressure washing company. The website should list all of their services and have a place where you can submit an estimate request. More importantly, take note of how long it takes for them to make contact with you after you request an estimate or whether or not they answer the phone in a professional manner if you call them. A day or two to get back in touch with you is not a sign of them being busy, it is a sign of non-professionalism. Reputable companies that know it is all about customer services and giving quality results will be anxious to get in touch with new leads.

If you look hard enough, there are all kinds of signs of how a company operates, good or bad. Even after calling a company, pay attention to the estimate and the sales presentation. A quality pressure washing company will be in a lettered professional looking vehicle. The contractor will be clean shaven and have a logo-ed shirt. Their estimate sheet should look professional not just a piece of paper or a sticky note with a price on it. Pay attention to every aspect of every company you contact and it will help you to make your decision in finding the best pressure washing services available.
