Adding an Outdoor Patio Umbrella
Filed under (Home Improvement) by MidWestPro @ 03:05 am

A great way to improve the look of any patio is to add same outdoor decor. An outdoor umbrella can be an easy, affordable, and effective way to add some flair to your outdoor living space. They can have many different uses but the obvious advantage is to create a shaded area on your deck or patio. This is a great choice to have as the sun as become more and more harsh with global warming an increasing problem.

Patio umbrellas come in many shapes and sizes and can be fit right in to any theme or outside decor. A different colored or pattern of material can greatly change the look and feel of any deck or patio. Most umbrellas are large and will be the main focal point, so the color and pattern choice is important, it will create the whole mood of your outdoor space. Umbrella are not just for patio furniture areas anymore, but can also be mounted near benches and other seating areas.

When you shop for your new outdoor patio umbrella in addition to looking for a certain color and pattern, also be conscious of the quality and durability of the umbrella and especially the rods that expand the umbrella. Also pay attention to the stitching of the material to be sure it is of good quality because it will take a lot of wind abuse while sitting outside. It is best to always wind the umbrella down on windy day but we all know that is not always done.

A good quality umbrella will last for several years even in a harsh environment. The sun’s rays, wind, and rain will wear out an umbrella quickly, but if it is taken care of can still last awhile. Umbrella maintenance may not be something you have ever heard of, but it will help to prolong the life of the umbrella if you wash it with a mild bleach and soap solution once or twice a year. This will help to get mold and mildew from ruining it.

Add Harmony with Wind Chimes, Feeders, and Music
Filed under (Home Improvement) by MidWestPro @ 10:50 pm

Besides having a nice clean house in a remote country area, there are other ways to harmonize with nature. Try adding a wind chime to your porch, patio, or deck area. You will be surprised at the relaxing sounds a slight breeze will produce.  Anytime you can increase your quality of living and relieve stress, it’s a good thing and makes you a better person. Nature is a great way to relax and to get back in touch with yourself. It clears the mind and resets it for a fresh start.

Besides windchimes there are other way to produce a serene atmosphere outside your home. Soothing music through outdoor speakers can be a nice touch. Produce music outside your home from a central audio system inside. Play music from MP3 players, stereos, computers, or TVs. If you do not want to run wires inside walls to the outside your it might run up the cost, you can install wireless outdoor speakers that run off a transmitter. It works the same way and plays multiple audio devices through the waterproof speakers.

Another favorite of many homeowners is to create an environment that birds and animals will flock to. Most people enjoy watching hummingbirds and different types of birds and animals in their natural environment. Hanging a hummingbird feeder outside will draw these neat little birds into your view as you are relaxing and enjoying the moment. Bird baths and houses will also provoke many different types of birds to flock into your yard for water or shelter. These are simply to hang and are available at most any hardware store.

So to create peace and harmony you can add wind chimes, music speakers, bird baths, feeders, and houses. All of these projects are very easy for most anyone to create a natural and peaceful environment. There are so many different designs, sizes, and price ranges for all these products. You can even build some of them yourself, if you are handy, just to get more reward and enjoyment from them.

Pressure Washing - Do it Yourself or Hire?
Filed under (Pressure Washing) by MidWestPro @ 10:26 pm

Pressure washing is a great way to improve the look and value of any property, residential or commercial. It is said to be one of the best home improvement projects you can do for the cost. It will bring you the best return on your investment. Pressure washing a home, roof, deck, and driveway can add up to 10% value to the home or business. For the money, no other home improvement will do that. Pressure washing is the best bang for your buck.

Many homeowners are stubborn about doing their own pressure washing do save even more money as opposed to paying a professional pressure washing company. Let’s weigh some of the pros and cons with this situation. You will have some money wrapped up into the washing project even doing it yourself. You’ll have to buy or rent a pressure washing unit, purchase chemicals, gas, and possibly some more hose, and some different wash tips.

Also, consider the danger involved in climbing a wet ladder and spraying a high pressure wand. Some people do not even climb a ladder but just wash the bottom half of their house. I am not sure what good that does but we here about it all the time. Your time involved has to be worth something. If it takes you the whole weekend or at least a day, what else could you have been doing with that precious time? Calculate what you think you are worth an hour and figure that in with all your other costs.

Now I think we can all agree that a professional pressure washing contractor is going to do a much nicer job of cleaning your home than a weekend warrior would. It is in fact, what they do for a living. Factoring your cost, time, and level of danger you can see that hiring a professional to do the work, and to do it better and guarantee it, is probably the best choice. It will also give you the most return on your investment. After all, the better the house looks the more the curb appeal and value will increase.
